HCE Founder and Executive Director - Zakeeyaw Toney

Believes in the core values of HCE, is driven by the mission and has a passion for

breaking new ground to lead social change. Her background includes experience in

scaling a multi-site organization, and a demonstrated ability to both lead and build the capabilities of a driven, bright, diverse team always following conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies. She has a results-proven track record of exceeding goals, the

ability to consistently make good decisions through a combination of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment, the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget; and problem solving, project management, and creative resourcefulness. Zakeeyaw is a native of Chicago with a duo residence in Las Vegas,

NV. She has been a professional Registered Nurse for 22 years, American Fitness and Aerobics Association (AFAA) Certified Fitness Instructor for 27 years, and a Chicago

Style Steppin Instructor for 9 years. Education that started in Chicago continued throughout the U.S. has built an accumulated, diverse educational background and work experiences including being a Veteran of the United States Air Force. She has worked in numerous areas of the health care profession including Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Home Health, Cardiac Rehab, Administration, and most recently Labor and Delivery. When Not working in the hospital setting, Ms. Z maintains close contact with Health and Fitness by working out regularly and keeping Instructor credentials current from AFAA and pursuing ACSM. A passionate Dancer and Instructor, with a special love for Steppin, Zakeeyaw has pursued Chicago Style Steppin with the same tenacious enthusiasm displayed when studying classical dance training through Sammy Dyer School of the Theater and later with Muntu Dance Theater.


HCE Secretary - Cheryl Hansford

Has over 25 years experience with non-profit corporations. Use of her experience includes: Recommendations to the board on establishing committees, consulting with board members on their roles and helping them assess their performance. Ensures that board matters are handled properly, including preparation of pre-meeting materials, committee functioning, recruitment and orientation of potential board members.Sought volunteers for committees and coordinates individual board member assignments. Speaks to the media and the community on behalf of the organization. Cheryl follows HCE conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.


HCE Treasurer - Christopher Issac

Has a background in finance and working with other nonprofit corporations. He has a unique understanding of financial accounting for nonprofit organizations. Use of his experience includes: Managing the board's review of, and action related to, the board's financial responsibilities. Ensures that appropriate financial reports are made available to the board. Presents the annual budget to the board for approval, reviewed annual audits, and answers board members' questions about audits. Chairs a Finance Committee and prepares agendas for the meetings. Works with the Executive Director in supporting the financial aspects of the organization: processing the payment of invoices and bills, maintaining the organization's bank accounts, and creating financial reports. Use of her experience also includes: Attending all board meetings. Ensuring the safety and accuracy of all board records. Reviewing board minutes. Providing notice of meetings of the board or of a committee when notice is required. Christopher follows HCE conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.


 HCE Board Member- LaMont Watts

Use of his experience includes: A Quality Ability to: Listen, Analyze, Think Clearly and Creatively, work well with people individually and in a group. He has savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals. He reviews agendas and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings. LaMont follows HCE conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.


HCE Board Member - Edrick Sizemore

His experience includes the ability to cultivate and solicit funds, cultivate and recruit board members and other volunteers, read and understand financial statements. He possess honesty, sensitivity to and tolerance of differing views, a friendly, responsive, and patient approach, community-building skills, personal integrity, and concern for our non-profit's development. Edrick follows HCE conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies. 


HCE Board Member - Rev. E Peggy Kenner

Experience includes preparing and attending board and committee meetings, and taking responsibility to follow through on a given assignment, contribute personal resources in a generous way, and open doors in the community. Rev. Kenner serves on committees or task forces and offers to take on special assignments, informed others about the organization, and follows HCE conflict-of-interest and confidentiality policies.
