SWA Teaches Chicago Steppin
What is Steppin?
Chicago Style Steppin or simply Steppin is a 6 count syncopated Swing Ballroom Dance preformed in open and closed position with a lead and follow format. Thats the dance definition. When examining the dance further we see the tremendous historical, cultural, and uniqueness of a dance that has it's roots in Chicago and has spread throughout the country.
SWA teaches Steppin from head to feet, filling in the who, what, when , where, why, and how of the dance. People request and participate in Steppin, with a passion and commitment unseen in most dances. There is a term that Steppers offer when describing their understanding: "Steppin is More than Just a Dance".
The truth is, Steppin is a Culture. From person to person and place to place, people are affected by a gained awareness of peace, love, unity, and respect, which leads to positive interpersonal interactions, social etiquette, and health benefits conveyed beyond the dance floor.
SWA Chicago Stepping brings new Steppers into the Steppin Community- Look Out! Don't forget to stay on beat and Practice, Practice, Practice.
