HCE Mind Festival

September 29, 2018

10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Serenity Mental Health

1901 S. Jones Blvd.

Las Vegas, NV. 89146

Healthy Choice Enterprise at Serenity Mental Health is delighted to invite you to The HCE Mind Festival: the Mental Health Festival bringing Mental Health into main stream health awareness. Our Theme: We are Whole when the Mind And Body are Well, which is the foundation for accomplishing Complete Well Being. Add to the day: Music, Dancing, Free Food and Beverages, Kids Corner, Healthy Food Demonstration, Dance Exercise Demonstrations, Free Raffles, Free Clothes from Gaby's Closet and More!

The stigma of mental health disorders is old fashion and has no place in modern day medicine and forward health thinking. The mind controls the body and we can no longer treat the mind separately from the body. Awareness of mental health must be brought into the light. Society must recognize that psychiatry problems are disorders that can be treated just as any other physical health problem can be treated.

The HCE Mind Festival extends an opportunity for our community; neighbors and contributors from the mind health profession, to share information in a fun, festive, and informative setting. We are bring together leading mental health and mind - body professionals and clinicians, pharmaceutical reps, kids behavioral counselors, and clients to share their knowledge, information and experiences. We are illuminating disorders of the mind and their effect on the body and behavior.

At the end of the event, the attendee will be more tolerant, open minded, and knowledgeable about their mind health, also proactive in seeking mental health care treatment for themselves and others.

       Blood Drive

HCE July 29th Blood Drive at Enterprise Library

 Why People Donate Blood

Safe blood saves lives and improves health. Blood transfusion is needed for:

  • women with complications of pregnancy, such as ectopic pregnancies and haemorrhage before, during or after childbirth;
  • children with severe anaemia often resulting from malaria or malnutrition;
  • people with severe trauma following accidents; and
  • many surgical and cancer patients.

It is also needed for regular transfusions for people with conditions such as thalassaemia and sickle cell disease and is used to make products such as clotting factors for people with haemophilia.

There is a constant need for regular blood supply because blood can be stored for only a limited time before use. Regular blood donations by a sufficient number of healthy people is needed to ensure that safe blood will be available whenever and wherever it is needed.

Blood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person — the gift of life. A decision to donate your blood can save a life, or even several if your blood is separated into its components — red cells, platelets and plasma — which can be used individually for patients with specific conditions.

Event Feed Back

Thank you and the Healthy Choice Enterprise for your participation in this year’s Festival! We were very pleased to have the opportunity to promote the benefits of starting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  I believe your presentation of combining healthy living with entertainment was a contributing factor in helping us achieve our largest attendance in our six year history.

I spoke with several guests who said the really appreciated the information and knowledge they gained as a result of your presence at the event. I can say without hesitation that this was our best Black History Month Festival yet and that was due in no small part to you and HCE.  I and the rest of our committee look forward to the opportunity to work with you again!

Thank you,

Corey J. Enus

Public Information

WE   had     a wonderful event where the adults, children, vendors, volunteers, and staff were happy.

We shared info, free screenings, breakfast, and smiles.

The children took home new lifestyle skills including how to make a balanced meal, names of fruits and veggies that were new to them, and the desire to play outdoors vs in the house with the TV or Video Games.  Check out our photo gallery and have fun with us at the next event.

Organizations Healthy Choice Enterprise Has Joined

Support Lets Move and HCE which brings attention to the epidemic of childhood obesity. Our Events are fun and you'll enjoy the activities while getting informed and enlightened. That's why HCE is on the Let's Move team. Join us! Our efforts support the national movement.

The threat of childhood obesity to the health of our children and the health of our nation has never been greater. Over the past three decades, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled. Today, almost one in every three children in our nation is obese or overweight. The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities, where nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. If we don’t solve this problem, one third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Many others may face chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer and asthma.

        Active Lifestyle Award

Everyone has a part to play in improving nutrition, physical activity and health of our families and communities. Kids and families across the country are invited to join First Lady Michelle Obama in participating in the President's Challenge.

"To show everyone just how much fun it can be, I will be working to earn my Active Lifestyle Award.  I’m going to do it. And I want kids across the country to join me." - First Lady Michelle Obama

Physical activity is an essential component of a healthy lifestyle. Adding more activity to your daily life can be easy and fun – and now you can earn an award for being active. To earn your Presidential Active Lifestyle Award (PALA), all you need to do is document your active exercise each day (60 minutes/day for children and 30 minutes/day for adults), 5 days a week, for six weeks.

Join the President’s Active Lifestyle Program, here's how:

1. Make the commitment  (this can be a family or team effort)

3. Log your activity

4. Earn your award

With over 100 activities to choose from, there's something for everyone! Record your activities and track your progress for 60 minutes a day/ 5 days a week for youths under the age of 18 or 60 minutes a day for adults. You can even compare your progress with others who are taking the President's Challenge.

The President's Challenge not only helps you stay active - it also gives you a little extra motivation while you're at it. That's because you can earn special Presidential awards recognizing your accomplishments.

We'll be updating this blog post with the First Lady's progress, so check back.
